Research reactor IRT-2000 in Sofia reconstruction- design and seismic computation

The presented paper deals with the research reactor IRT-2000 that entered service in 1961 at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia. The reactor is shut down presently and works on its reconstruction have been launched. The text describes the history and design of the original reactor and a new structural design and its merits. Strength and seismic analysis, which are key subject matter of this contribution, have been executed in the frame of the reconstruction.
