Specimen preparation for microscopic image analysis of engineered cementious composites

For validation of multiscale analytical models of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) it is necessary to acquire information about intrinsic matrix flaws with sizes in the range of several mm to several mm. This paper presents methods of sample preparation and data acquisition by means of optical and electron microscopy. A methodology which provides images with the best contrast is proposed.
